The South Side – Bar & Restaurant in Tremont – Cleveland, Ohio

If you’re in need of a cool new hangout spot, look no further. The South Side has great food, a kind staff and most importantly: a year-round patio.

Since Cleveland is not a tropical destination, most of us just make do with the fact that dining outside will have to wait until spring. Well, the owners of The South Side had another idea. A 1,000 square foot, half indoor, half outdoor patio that operates all year long. It has TV’s making it the perfect place to catch the game whether the Indians or the Cavs are playing!

Now, they do offer more than just the patio. The menu here is large and pretty affordable. They offer tacos, flat breads, soups and salads, sandwiches and full entrees. The entrees range from $12 to $21. Popular dishes include the “Red Miso Salmon” (potato crusted baked filet, pesto couscous with peas) for $19, the “Chicken and Waffles” (tempura battered airline chicken breast, Belgian waffle, cinnamon butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar and hot sauce) for $12 and the “South Side Strip” (10 oz Certified Angus Beef cooked to order, chef’s choice of potato and seasonal veggie) for $21.

Regulars love the tacos. You get three tacos for $10 and they come in a variety of meats. Other favorites include the “Steak Sandwich” (shaved ribeye, beef brisket, bleu cheese, caramelized onion, roasted Roma tomato, baby arugula, white cheese sauce) for $14, the “Tremont Burger” (bacon, cheddar, battered onion, tomato jam, challah bun, lettuce and tomato) for $12 and the “The ‘Original’ Turkey Cuban” (bacon, swiss cheese, pressed and grilled baguette with sun-dried tomato aioli) for $10.

While the lunch and dinner is good, the brunch is where it’s at. Brunch is served Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm and Sunday from 10:30 to 3 pm. They do have different menus for each day — Sunday’s is a bit larger so if you’re looking for more options, be sure to come at that time. The Sunday menu includes 12 entrees (Saturday only has 8), the both have great choices like the “Chicken Enchiladas & Eggs” (Pico de Gallo, Guacamole, Cowboy sauce, Monterey Jack, Cilantro Aioli and two sunny eggs) for $13 and the “Big Nasty Brunch Burger” (Served on French Toast with Bacon, Cheddar, Chorizo Gravy, Onion Ring and Fried Egg) for $12.50. For drinks, they make ten different Bloody Marys that are garnished with different foods, mimosas, bellinis and custom cocktails.

The South Side makes the perfect boozy brunch spot with great city views and good food and the amazing patio! Next time you and your friends need a new spot be sure to make a trip to The South Side.

The South Side is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 2 am and Sunday from 10:30 am to 2 am.
