I set out to make it my goal in 2018 to bring everyone the best health & skin care tips imaginable, and so far I’ve been writing like a woman with a mission of having perfect skin just about every day of January thus far!

While most of my focus is on keeping us feeling and looking younger, (see my post on making your neck line appear younger) today I’m going to talk to the teens out there (for the most part) who have this nasty condition that I’ve had from time to time.  This condition is called “blackheads.”  Just saying that word freaks me out because I can’t think of a worse thing to wake up to seeing on my skin!

What are Blackheads?

Blackheads are a common skin imperfection that mostly appears on the nose area. Although these are nothing to worry about, sometimes they can grow in huge numbers which can ruin your overall look and break your confidence. Blackheads usually appear on the skin because of oil presence in the skin and due to dead cells being stuck in the skin.

But you don’t have to worry because blackheads can easily be removed. The first thing to try is to use a good cleanser. Wash your face with warm water and let it dry. Repeat this step for a couple of days and try squeezing your nose with gentle pressure. With some luck, blackheads will start popping out and excessive sebum will come out leaving nothing but smooth skin.

But this method sometimes works and other times leaves you with disappointment. Because you can press your nose with the right pressure at the right places, the blackheads may never be removed. This is where the blackhead extractors come in.

Blackhead extractors are tools specifically designed to pull out excessive sebum from the skin which causes blackheads to appear. The tools are designed in such a way that pressure is put on the right place that pushes out the sebum. The good thing is that blackhead extractor is a small tool that is readily available from nearly any kind of shop that sells cosmetics and other skin care products. These are effective tools that can help removing blackheads at home without worrying about the costs associated with visiting skin care specialists.

But before you try using blackhead extractor at home, you need to know that there are two kinds of blackhead extractors available. The first kind is the kind that professionals use at beauty spas or at skin clinics. These are meant to be used by professionals because these have needle like ends which are extremely dangerous if not used properly. With improper use, you could easily puncture your skin and leave scars on it instead of getting blackheads removed.

The good news is that there is another kind of blackhead extractor that is specifically made for home use and can be used regardless of your expertise in blackhead extracting. These blackheads do not have a needle like end. Instead they have cupped ends on both side that simply put pressure on the skin at the right places to push sebum out of the blackheads.

Warning – Blackhead Popping Examples are Below

Before using this tool, make sure you wash your skin with a good cleanser and apply other moisturizer to make the extraction as easy as possible. With skin that is fresh from a cleanser, it is easy to remove blackheads. All you need to do is to use one end of the blackhead extractor and apply a gentle pressure where the blackhead exists. Once you press with enough force, the excessive sebum will pour out from the spot leaving nothing but smooth skin. This is by far the easiest way to remove blackheads.
