Harper Grace Gets American Idol Golden Ticket 6 Years After “Worst National Anthem”

Harper Grace, who some may remember as Harper Gruzins from her “Worst National Anthem” performance in 2012, sang two songs tonight on the auditions and premiere of American Idol.

Her first song was an original that that judges loved called “Yard Sale” and talked about “Heartbreak Retail.”  Catchy and cool song that Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie all loved.

They made her sing a second song and she did a great rendition of Khalid’s “Young Dumb and Broke”.

It was a cool acoustic version of the song and that’s what ultimately excited the judges enough to pass her along to Hollywood and give her the coveted Golden Ticket.  So, six years after her National Anthem performance that went viral and was called the worst in history, Harper Grace Gruzins has a second chance in the limelight.  She now has her chance to show everyone that the National Anthem was a fluke and that she deserves to be in the spotlight.

She was just 11 years old so let’s cut her a break on the National Anthem that was performed in front of 20,000+ soccer fans.  I am definitely rooting for her redemption tour on American Idol and excited to see what she can do after the Kahlid cover she performed.

Let’s hope she can show the haters what she has after being on the worst list with the likes of Roseann Barr and Christina Aguilera.

Now just 16 year old, Harper Grace has potential in this competition and one of my favorites from tonight’s American Idol show.  There still is a long way to go in this competition though but we are wishing her the best.

Watch the full clip from Harper Grace’s American Idol performance below and let us know what you think!  Does she have what it takes to be redeemed for her “Worst National Anthem” and win American Idol?
